Information SheetState HighwaysDec 23, 2002 --WSDOT and Washington State Patrol (WSP) are teaming up to help motorists reach their holiday destinations quickly and safely. WSDOT's 44 Incident Response Teams (IRT) will be covering major highways as well as the mountain passes. IRT crews are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to assist motorists with non-emergencies such as running out of gasoline, flat tires, dead batteries, overheated engines and minor fuel spills. WSDOT Incidence Response drivers will contact WSP for emergencies, to request tows and assist troopers with traffic control when needed. IRT crews will also be patrolling major highways over the holiday weekend looking for travelers needing assistance, especially on Tuesday, December 24, Thursday, December 26, and Sunday, December 29.
