Highway Activity

Dec 23, 2002 --

WHERE POSSIBLE, WSDOT avoids construction closures around holidays to accommodate travelers. Construction activities will not occur between noon Tuesday, December 24 and Thursday morning, December 26, and again from noon Tuesday, December 31, and Thursday morning, January 2. However, at the following locations, motorists may still expect delays:

SR 20 (Twisp)—Traffic is reduced to one lane over the Methow River Bridge at Twisp as part of a project to replace the bridge structure. Wide loads are limited to 14 feet across the bridge, and traffic is controlled with a temporary traffic signal.

4th Avenue South in downtown Seattle will have lane closures from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each Monday through Friday during the holiday week except on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The lane closures will extend from South Royal Brougham Way to South Holgate Street. On those same days and at the same location, 4th Avenue South will be closed completely from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

During night hours on December 30, motorists can expect intermittent single lane closures in both directions on Interstate 405 near NE 8th Street in Bellevue.

Single-lane closures will also occur on weekdays for electrical work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. along the 116th Avenue NE/Lake Hills Connector in Bellevue as part of the SE 8th Street Interchange Modifications project on Interstate 405. These closures will not occur on Christmas or New Year's days.
