New Business Advocate is ‘go-to’ person for hassle-free businesses
Feb 24, 2003 --
SEATTLE—As part of his strategy to make it easier to do business in Seattle, Mayor Greg Nickels last week formally introduced his new Business Advocate—Kris Effertz—a telephone hotline to reach her and a new website to help businesses succeed in the city.
The Business Advocate Hotline is 206-864-BIZZ (2499). The address of the website, Seattle: A Better Way To Work, is www.cityofseattle.gov/EconomicDevelopment.
The website contains information, resources and answers to frequently asked questions about how to conduct business with the city.
“Navigating city red tape can be difficult and especially challenging during tough economic times like these,” Nickels said.
“Our Business Advocate, Kris Effertz, brings a great deal of expertise with her to the job. She’ll be a ‘go-to’ person for businesses, helping them meet city regulations without unnecessary hurdles or hassles,” he added.
A 20-year veteran of city government, Effertz has helped scores of businesses by leading coordination of construction projects involving Safeco Field, the Seahawks Stadium, the Immunex Helix Project, earthquake recovery and Pioneer Square utility projects.
Nickels’ strategy is part of his overall Jobs Creation Agenda. Earlier this month, he announced another major step to make it easier to do business in the city, creating a climate more favorable to retaining and attracting living wage jobs.
