In-office surgery safety questioned
Jan 20, 2003 --
The Tacoma News-Tribune reports:
State health officials are moving to fill a loophole they say allows doctors to perform surgery in their offices without adequate safety provisions. Guidelines expected out in April will suggest that those safety measures be implemented.
Unlike hospitals and many outpatient surgery centers, doctors’ offices generally do not have to have regular safety inspections, do not have to have resuscitation equipment on hand in case something goes wrong and are not required to report when patients are hurt during operations.
Read about it in the Tacoma News-Tribune.
