In a resolution introduced by City Councilmember Jim Compton, the Council declared that Weckworth "has been an active and effective journalist reporting on issues facing our community for more than 60 years, with more than 80 state and national awards for her writing, and contributions made to several community newspapers in north Seattle, including The Seattle Press, the Ballard News-Tribune, University Herald, Outlook Today, and the original Outlook," and "her column Hash provided an honest, up-

The resolution proclaims Monday, March 27, 2000, as Trudy Weckworth Day in Seattle, and "Calls on all members of our community to honor this tireless and energetic citizen."

Weckworth was also profiled on local television following the announcement of her retirement, and in the Seattle Times by Eric Lacitis, who once worked with Weckworth on the Outlook, a noted North Seattle community newspaper published by Milton and Stan Stapp.
