Heart of Phinney Park

Plans for Heart of Phinney Park.
Jun 15, 2000 -- A new, diminutive Phinney Ridge park will emerge from the awkward intersection where northbound Phinney Avenue jogs west and emerges as Greenwood Avenue.
Heart of Phinney Park will have flowers, shrubs and stone benches; the park will incorporate the cold-war era air raid tower, which stood ready for decades to warn Phinney Ridge of approaching Russian bombers. The park will serve as the gateway to the Phinney-Greenwood urban village. The city will install some curbs and paving, but $100,000 worth of volunteer work and $140,000 in cash is necessary to make the park a reality. For more information or to volunteer, call Greg Zuhl at (206) 706-1182.
