Fremont Chamber Declares: "We're the Wrong Kind of People"

Jun 28, 2000 -- The Fremont Chamber of Commerce has officially declared themselves to be "The Wrong Kind of People" according to report in the Chamber's June newsletter.

In a discussion over the future of the Fremont Sunday Market, Chamber President George Heideman reported to the group that two members had complained recently that the Market "Brings the wrong kind of people" into Fremont.

"The Chamber took a moment to unanimously vote ourselves the wrong kind of people," according to the group's minutes.

The Chamber is trying to find a new home for the market when construction for a new residential retail complex starts this fall on the Red Door parking lot on N. 34th. Some area businesses including Sound Mind and Body and Les Amis have complained about the shortage of parking on Sundays when the Market is open.

Well done, Chamber of Commerce. I've always been the wrong kind of person, and it's nice to know I'm not alone.
