Join the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

Jul 12, 2000 -- The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of King County links people over 55 with meaningful volunteer opportunities that meet critical community needs. RSVP has partnerships with 120 public, non-profit and health care agencies throughout the county that require the help of many different kinds of volunteers. Our program will match potential volunteers with one of these organizations where you can put your unique skills, interests and experience to good use. No matter what your background, there is a way you can help. RSVP outreach includes Retired Executive Volunteers, nutritional programs for senior citizens and low-income people, food banks, Knit-It-Alls and a youth tutoring program.

RVSP offers its volunteers a variety of benefits. These include a free subscription to RSVP Senior News, supplemental insurance coverage, travel reimbursement to and from your volunteer site, an invitation to the RSVP annual recognition event and the opportunity to be part of a national organization dedicated to promoting the reputation and health of seniors in our community.

Hello: I am the System Manager for King County District Court with facilities in the metropolitan Seattle Area. We are about to deploy public access terminals in 9 of our locations and I would love to find some volunteers who would be interested in assisting people on our public access computers. We would provide training in the on-line information we will have available as well as an introduction to the type of questions they would encounter. I have been looking through the AARP site and can't locate anything about possible "local" chapters. Can you help me? Thank you in advance. Cathy Grindle, KCDC System Manager 206-205-5515

The Ethical Culture Society is seeking volunteers who would like to help at our Sunday morning meetings with child-care, hospitality, refreshements, music, etc. We are a non-denominational religious society that teaches that what you do is far more important than what you believe. Our mission is to provide ethical direction and support for "unchurched" families who do not belong to traditional religious organizations. We do not require belief in or adherence to any paricular creed, but rather only ask that our members work together to help each other discover how to live better lives and contribute to the betterment of our society. If this sounds like something you could support we would be grateful for your help. Please call or email Will: 425-837-1255 or wanderingwilliam@yahoo.com We are seeking volunteers who would like to help at our Sunday morning meetings with child-care, hospitality, refreshements, music, etc.
