Fremont Asks for Its Own Post Office

Aug 09, 2000 -- More than 50 residents, business owners, workers, artists and shoppers recently signed a petition requesting the U.S. Postal Service to reconsider the need for a contract post office within Fremont. With a dozen new apartments and townhouses being built each month, and the addition of more than 1,000 employees in the neighborhood within the next two years, those who signed the petition felt the post office would be a vital resource.

Currently, the closest post office is a mile and a half uphill. A new post office would allow Fremonsters to remain in the neighborhood rather than driving to a distant location or doing without U.S. Postal resources.

I can't drive and the bus causes undue pain, having a post office here sure would make my life almost complete in Fremont.
