Fremont Willow Mourned

Aug 23, 2000 -- No services were held last week at Hoffner Fisher Harvey Funeral Home in Fremont to mark the passing of a stately weeping willow tree familiar to generations of Fremont residents. A big limb crashed to the ground about two weeks ago, destroying a trellis and revealing deep rot in the tree's core. "I think it had just come to the end of its lifespan," said Hoffner Fisher Harvey executive Jack Harvey. The Fremont landmark was over 100 years old.
