Ballard-Opoly Auction To Support Family Center And Kiwanis Club

Sep 06, 2000 -- The Ballard Family Center and Ballard Boys and Girls Club will join together September 16 for their second annual dinner and auction. All proceeds will go to help finance programs at the Ballard Family Center and the Ballard Kiwanis Club, which is a major contributor to the Ballard Boys and Girls Club.

During the evening of the Ballard-OPOLY auction, participants will have a chance to release State Representative Mary Lou Dickerson from jail, to buy a trunk full of one-of-a-kind dress-up clothes or be the highest bidder for a life-size handmade dollhouse complete with flower boxes. Joseph Olchefske, Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools, will be the special guest. Sponsors include local businesses such as Phil's Jewelers, HomeStreet Bank, Windermere Realty, Redhook Ale Brewery and Viking Bank.

Ballard Family Center offers classes in ESL and computer training and support groups for grandparents, single parents and stay-at-home mothers. For children, they offer arts and crafts, story time and childcare. The Boys and Girls Club has been in the same location for almost 50 years. It provides activities for children of all ages.

The Ballard-OPOLY auction will be held in St. John's Egan Hall at 123 N 79th St. Food will be catered by local realtor and chef Tim Flint. For more information or tickets, call 706-9645.
