WTO Protest Documentary to Premiere at Seattle Art Museum

Sep 06, 2000 -- Premiering at the Seattle Art Museum September 9 and 10, This is What Democracy Looks Like chronicles what happened in the streets of Seattle during the 1999 WTO protests.

With more cameras on the street than any other media organization, the Independent Media Center (IMC) coordinated hundreds of media activists and collected more than 300 hours of video footage during the WTO protests. This Is What Democracy Looks Like is a co-production of the IMC and Big Noise Films, weaving the street footage into a documentary with interviews of local and international environmental, labor, health and human rights activists.

Showings will be at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Seattle Art Museum is located at 100 University St. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale of $7 - $20 and are available in advance at Speakeasy, 2304 2nd Ave. and at the Independent Media Center, 1415 3rd Ave.
