Cleanscapes Brings Change to University District

Sep 19, 2000 -- Cleanscapes is currently working toward removing graffiti and litter, as well as providing other services to enhance and maintain the University District’s urban environment.

The organization, founded by Chris Martin, has taken on the task of maintaining the cleanliness of the University District. Martin founded the organization in 1997 in Pioneer Square, seeing the disorder and safety issues in the square as well as other communities like the University District.

Cleanscapes employs homeless people through social service providers, working toward the dual purpose of providing opportunity while helping to reduce the street population and improving the business atmosphere of the neighborhood.
