Time Marches On

Oct 04, 2000 -- An heir of the late Roy Davidson has contacted city staff about the possibility of relocating the Greenwood Jewelers Clock to a more prominent spot in the Greenwood business district. It currently stands at 129 N 85th St. in front of the building that once housed Davidson's jewelry store, and was one of the ten Seattle street clocks to receive designated landmark status in 1980 by the Landmarks Preservation Board. Davidson's heir would like a local group to take responsibility for the clock, to find a new site for it and to incorporate a memorial to Davidson. A proposal about the clock will be made to the Greenwood Chamber next month at its board meeting. In the meantime, the Greenwood-Phinney Neighborhood Planning Group has offered some ideas for possible project sponsors.
