Viking Bank Receives Award
Viking Community Bank, was recently selected to receive a $124, 430 award in support of its lending activities in financially under-served communities, from the fifth annual Community Development Financial Institutions Award Programs. Viking was the only bank in Washington that was selected to receive an award this year from among more than 300 banks, thrifts and community development financial institutions across the country.
"Viking Community Bank has always focused and committed itself to the needs of the community and small business," said Rich Mulcahy, Viking Senior Vice President in charge of the project. "We are committed to playing the lead role in the economic revitalization of the communities we serve."
Viking Community Bank has offices in Ballard and SODO as well as Poulsbo and Fife. Viking plans to open a new full-service office in the Seattle Industrial market (6th and Lucile) in December.Tangis to Expand at Union Bay
The Tangis Corporation will relocate later this fall from one floor of the Columbia Tower to a multistory building at north Lake Union, where the corporate offices of Union Bay Sportswear, Inc. are currently residing. The growing company expects this location to become its U.S. headquarters as business expands outside the country.
"The Lake Union location is convenient, parking is plentiful and it's extremely attractive. And there's room for our projected company growth over the foreseeable future," said Tangis president Alan Housley. He added that Tangis will be subleasing about 5,800 square feet of the building over the near term.
Green Lake Bar and Grill Grand Opening
Half the proceeds from the October 14 opening night of the new Green Lake Bar and Grill have been donated to the Green Lake Public Library for the purchase "Literary Stuffed Animals" including Curious George and Paddington Bear.
The new food and drink establishment at 7200 E. Greenlake Drive is on the same site as the former Greenlake Pub, a well-loved '80s watering hole.
Owners John and James Schmidt brothers are most famous for their creation of Taco Del Mar.
Chef Brian Poor, who is the star of his own cooking show on KOMO AM1000 has created a Northwest, grill oriented menu.
