"Not Bush" for President (and Re-Elect the Monorail)

By Dick Falkenbury

Nov 01, 2000 -- It's time to go to the polls and vote; remember that the Monorail Initiative 53 is the last thing on the ballot, so don't forget and sneak out early. I promised myself that I wouldn't use this column solely as a monorail platform. Any further references to monorails will be an Inadvertent Mention.

Remember the presidential election of 1968? Richard Nixon was running against Hubert Humphrey. People kept saying that there was really no difference between the two, so they voted for third party candidates, or didn't vote at all. They refused to vote for the lesser of two evils.

So Nixon won by a handful of votes. And the country got a president that was pure evil.

Gore doesn't do a lot for me. But the thing about Bush is that he is truly stupid. That is the worst thing possible. He won't know how far he can push things, because he is too stupid to know better. When people tell him lies, advise him wrongly and commit injustices in his name, he won't be able to know where to draw the line.

Bush couldn't spell "monorail" if you spotted him the first seven letters. (Sorry, that was an Inadvertent Mention.)

Make no mistake: a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush. It is not a statement of integrity. It is not a demand for reform. George W. Bush will not even say "thank you" as he steps over Nader's body on the way to the inauguration.

(On the other hand, a vote for Initiative 53/Proposition 2--the last thing on the ballot--will give the ETC $6 million to come up with a plan, which will be submitted within two years for voters to approve. And it sets aside $200 million in bonding capacity to build it if the voters decide to go ahead. This is not an Inadvertent Mention; I meant to do it.)

Bush in the White House would put the Republicans in charge of more than the presidency. They would be in charge of appointments to the Supreme Court. When Bush says that he won't judge Supreme Court appointments on abortion he is lying twice. First, he will judge solely on abortion and second, he won't be making the appointments--others will give him the names to announce as "his" choice. They'll probably have to coach him on how to pronounce the names.

Bush in the White House means that there will be no one questioning the military's demands for budget increases. Can you imagine Bush prepared and capable of telling a general "no" to more missiles, tanks or weapons? You might as well ask Bush to stand on the track and stop the monorail (I.M.).

I have no illusions that Gore will somehow grow in the office to one of the great presidents. But he is not Bush, and in this contest, that is more than enough: it is everything.

If bush gets relected, this whole world as we know it is going to go to hell. I personally will be caught in the draft from the stupid war in iraq.

I think George Bush should NOT be relected because he is putting us all in danger.

I love seeing articles like this. It shows just how looney the left is and helps reelect a great president. Most of the politically active in Seattle never make it out of King County and don't realize what bufoons the rest of the country think that they are. These folks just keep preaching to the choir and keep wondering why Kerry's numbers don't go up. Well to them I say keep up the good work, I certainly don't want to spoil the fun:-) From The Right:-))

I think re-electing president bush is the worse thing we can do as an american. we need a president that represents the majority.not a president that is all for the rich and nobody else.
