FPA Burns Mortage

Nov 01, 2000 -- The Fremont Public Association (FPA) burned the mortgage on its handsome new headquarters on North 45th Street. The building, which opened two years ago, houses all of the FPA's extensive social and community services, including a food bank, child care, a branch public library and many other services. The mortgage was paid off through successful fundraising including a grant from the Gates Foundation. More than 200 people attended a mortgage-burning celebration featuring a fire- eater show and a barbecue.
