B.F. Day Fifth Grader Wins Computer Contest

Mollie Wooden, fifth grader and aspiring cartoonist, won Fremont Rotary's second "Why I Want a Computer" contest at B.F. Day School. About winning the computer, Mollie said, "I could use it to create my comic strip 'Chickfleet and Arbie,' that I and my friends have been working on for two years, but can't seem to get the graphics right... If I had this computer I could get the graphics right and get it into The Seattle Press. Maybe when the graphics are really good we could get it into the New York Times and the Post-Intelligencer and maybe even on TV...[and] I would be able to get e-mail."
Adan Mohamed (fourth grade) and Faiza Moulim (fourth grade) each won First Prize gift baskets for their essays. Adan has recently arrived from Somalia, and wanted a computer for learning. Faiza, also from Somalia, wanted to replace the computer her uncle took with him when he moved, so she can learn something about Somalia and teach her mom how to use it. Judges gave points for uniqueness, pressing need, creative ideas and use of more than one medium (i.e., essay plus drawing).
The topic of B.F. Day's next computer contest will be "How the Dinosaurs Got to Fremont, an urban legend."

Hey mollie or if u get it hunter and ur really bored in the future this is hunter ummm we live in france now this is a good journal ummm sorry tessa if u c dis but we like lived there ummm 1,2,3,4 years ago and the last year we were there we were outta that school sooo ya hunter wuts um u were livin in france when i wrote thissoo sumday look this up again and ull see dis load o crap u know was the computer they gave mollie ne good....NO mollie like wanted to go and create her cartoon w/ it lol no way this computer couldnt be more horrible im typin on a mac G5 right now soo when u read this ull know that W.e. ya sssoooooooooo talk 2 u in like a couple years when u read this message sweet oh and ur goin out w/ brandee right now lol shes cool but ya ull remember l8ter |
