Poplar Plan Up for Public Review

Nov 15, 2000 -- The Army Corps of Engineers is asking for comments on its draft plan for managing the colonnade of Lombardy poplars and other vegetation lining the banks of the Fremont Cut in Seattle.

The Corps has scheduled a question and answer session November 16 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Locks regarding a draft management plan for the historic Fremont Cut. The meeting is at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks visitor center, located at 3015 NW 54th St. in Seattle.

The draft plan is also available for public review at the Fremont Library, Queen Anne Library, Ballard Library, main branch Seattle Library and Chittenden Locks administration building.

The Corps is requesting written comments on this draft to consider in its planning efforts. Additionally, the Corps will submit the plan to the Washington State Historic Preservation Office and National Marine Fisheries Service as part of the consultation process.

Comments on the plan may be sent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 3015 NW 54th Street, Seattle, WA 98107-4299.
