A police officer investigates an auto accident on 8th Avenue Northwest in Ballard on a Saturday at 11:40 p.m. A small car has hit an unoccupied parked van, damaging the passenger side of the car. The impact of the crash caused the car's glove compartment to pop open, and the investigating officer sees a baggie of a white substance sitting on the open compartment door. He photographs it from outside the car, and then investigates the driver. The suspect is arrested for driving under the influence and patted down. In his pockets are a pager and more than $1,000 cash. He is booked into jail...

A young woman bowls with friends at a Ballard bowling alley. She puts her purse down on a table near their lane, and puts her coat over the purse. About 20 minutes later, a group of 6 teenage boys enters the south door of the business. Three of them walk to the north end of the bowling alley, close to the table with the woman's purse on it. The other three stay at the south end of the business and start an altercation among themselves and several other patrons. The woman and her friends go to help break up the fight. The three boys near the north end of the bowling leave through the north door while this happens. After they leave, the other three stop fighting and depart out the south door. The woman and her friends return to their game. Later, she looks for her purse and discovers it is missing. No one was near their table except the three teenagers. A police officer responds to the complaint. He gives her a case number and a ride home...

A woman visits a Ballard bank branch and withdraws a large sum of cash on a Monday at 2:15 p.m. She puts the envelope containing the cash into her outside jacket pocket, as she is carrying her child. She walks to a local camera store, then returns to her vehicle and goes home. Later, she realizes the envelope is gone. She retraces her steps but cannot find it...

The clerk of a U District convenience store is attempting to fix the lottery machine on a Sunday at 11:35 a.m. when he looks up and sees a man walking out of the store with a 12-pack of beer under his arm. He recognizes the man from previous shoplifting incidents at the store. The clerk follows the suspect outside, and catches up with him across the street. A struggle ensues as the clerk tries to get the merchandise from the suspect. The suspect breaks away and throws two cans of beer at the clerk before running down the street. The clerk returns to the store to call 911. Later, he looks for the cans of beer, but they are gone...

A woman shops in a grocery store on Aurora Avenue North. A man, who the woman describes as being in his 20s, about six feet tall with blond hair and a medium build, follows her around for about an hour while she shops. When she leaves and walks home, he follows her. As she arrives at her apartment building, he asks, "You want to go with me?" She says "No," and he walks past, but when she enters her lobby door he slips in behind her. She yells at him and kicks him, and he leaves...

A teenage girl browses in a store at University Village on a Sunday at 2:20 p.m. When she leaves, the theft alarm sounds. The sales clerk determines that a bag the girl is carrying contains something that tripped the alarm. She looks inside the bag and discovers a pair of shoes with the price tag still attached. Police and the girl's father are called. The girl is very cooperative, and admits that she meant to steal the shoes. She is released into the care of her father. The shoes are valued at $130...
