Flexcar Comes to Queen Anne

Jan 11, 2001 -- Flexcar, Seattle's innovative car-sharing program, celebrates its first anniversary with a new location atop Queen Anne Hill at the Union 76 station, 1929 Queen Anne Avenue North. Like all Flexcar locations, it's conveniently located by a Metro bus stop.

Flexcar melds the concept of time-sharing with car rental in a new way: members can use any car from Flexcar's growing fleet, without having to worry about car payments, insurance, or maintenance.

With five new cars coming on line soon, the Flexcar fleet will total 29 cars in seven neighborhoods, including Downtown, Fremont, and Capitol Hill. New locations are in the works for Pioneer Square, the International District, and Lower Queen Anne.

Nearly 1,000 local drivers are currently enjoying the benefits of Flexcar, including Queen Anne client Cathy Vu, who calls Flexcar "convenient and so easy to use." Membership is $25 (with your first trip free). To become a member, or to find out how to get a Flexcar in your neighborhood, call Flexcar President Neil Peterson at (206) 323-3529.
