A Ballard man calls police on a Sunday to report a suspected burglary at a house across the street. He says he noticed broken glass and jewelry in the street in front of the house on Friday. The next day, he saw water flowing from the direction of the house and running down the street. He assumed the water was from a sump pump in the back yard. On Sunday, he realized that the small window next to the front door was broken and called police.

When police arrive, the water has stopped flowing because the fire department has shut it off at the street. The officers enter the house and find the main floor covered in water. Paper towels are stuffed in the kitchen sink drain and the faucets are in the "on" position. Looking further, they find that the whole house has been ransacked. They find papers identifying the owner of the house and unsuccessfully attempt to contact her. Neighbors say they have not seen her in several days and her car is not there. Officers dust for prints and leave a card with a case number at the scene...

A man calls police on a Monday at 4:40 p.m. to report a road rage incident. According to the victim, the suspect said that if the victim cut him off again he would bash his head. The suspect then left. Police soon locate the suspect a few blocks away, using the license plate number provided by the victim. He tells officers that he did tell the victim that if he cut him off again he would use the pipe, but only because he was upset that the victim cut him off in traffic and then "gave him the finger." The suspect says he was only trying to teach the victim a lesson and had no intention of "beating him up." Police release the suspect but keep the metal pipe...
