Albertsons.com Drivers Unionize

Working with Teamsters Local 763, drivers for Albertsons.com have ratified their first union contract. The company's 28 drivers deliver groceries directly to homes and businesses from orders placed over the Internet. Albertsons.com is a division of the Boise, Idaho-based Albertson's supermarket chain; the grocery delivery service is based in Bellevue and covers the entire Puget Sound region. This is thought to be one of the first Internet-related businesses to be successfully organized by a union.
Albertsons.com driver Mike Hudson commented, "We're happy to win a fair first contract with the Teamsters. We think that this Internet delivery service can be successful, and being represented by a union will ensure that we share in the success."
Teamsters Local 763 represents over 4,600 workers working for 150 employers in the region. Teamsters Secretary-Treasurer Dave Reynolds is pleased to have dot-com workers in their ranks. "This is a great day for our union--we are proud to have opened the door to organizing the high-tech dot-com work force," he says. "We anticipate working with other unions to help other high-tech workers win a voice at work."

I Drive for SaveMart stores and have for twenty years.What i am looking for is to see what kind of contract Albertsons and Safeway drivers have because us drivers at Save Mart arn't to happy with the contracts we keep getting through UFCW and think that it might be better if we got Teamsters in our warehouse instead.Because I belive they could do a better job for us.
