South Lake Union Park Shaping Up
Mar 22, 2001 --
Early this week, demolition of the Neptune Building at South Lake Union Park, located at 1000 Valley St., was completed. The site, recently acquired by the City of Seattle from the Navy Reserve, has undergone hazardous material abatement, and the razing of the building is the final step in the conversion to park land. The site will be cleared completely in the near future, and Parks and Recreation plans to grade and seed the area with grass for much-needed open space on the waterfront.
Interwest Construction hopes to complete demolition this week and finish removing the concrete slab and outbuildings by the end of March.
