Yoga Vs. Ritalin
Yoga can be an effective alternative to drug treatment for childhood Attention Deficit Disorder according to Michael and Micki Suzerris, who recently opened Yoga Life, a training center for adults and children in the Green Lake area. Micki Suzerris was a bank vice president and Michael a wood industry executive before they decided they wanted to integrate work, family and community. Yoga Life was their solution. The Yoga-for-kids idea was reported on recently in a Time magazine article and photo essay.
Suzerris says, "Yoga is not only a powerful way to fix what is broken, but to help it not get broken in the first place."

Mayor Hears Truck Woes
Mayor Schell, in campaign mode, came to explain his traffic plans to the North Seattle Industrial Association (NSIA) a few days ago, but all the busy business owners wanted to talk about was trucks.
The Mayor hammered on his plans for synchronized traffic lights, one-car families and more local parking garages. But the big fear among NSIA members is that an earthquake or some misguided city planners will one day take out the Alaskan Way Viaduct for good. Discussion focused on one particularly irksome curb bulb and crosswalk right at the Western Avenue entrance ramp to the viaduct. The Mayor promised that city street designers would be instructed to consider truck traffic more carefully in the future.
