Apr 19, 2001 -- Cameron Procopio, a Whitman Middle School 8th grader, was spotted on 3rd Avenue NW recently with a long, funny-looking rope. Upon investigation by an alert Seattle Press reporter, the rope turned out to be a 330-foot-long braid of rubber bands. Procopio said he bought the rubber bands at an office supply store for $10, and started braiding them together because he "had nothing else to do."
