A young man drives northbound on Brooklyn Avenue NE at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, after the University Street Fair closes. He is in a line of cars stopped at a traffic light at NE 50th Street, and notices a driver in a Toyota trying to exit the Safeway parking lot and get in front of him. There is no room between his car and the car in front of him, and the Toyota driver cuts in behind him instead and follows him as he turns right onto NE 50th Street. The suspect then drives around the young man, crossing into oncoming traffic lanes and cutting in front of the young man, forcing him to brake sharply. Next the suspect pulls into the right lane, and the cars stop for the light at 50th and University Way NE. The suspect gets out of his car and approaches the young man's driver's side window. When the young man rolls down his window to talk, the suspect spits in his face. The light changes at this point, and the young man drives away. As he does, the suspect smashes his fist into the trunk of his car, denting it. The suspect gets back into his car and follows the young man to the next light, at 15th Avenue NE, where both cars again stop in traffic. Again, the suspect gets out and comes over to the young man's car, this time punching the driver's side mirror. When the light changes again, he finally drives away. The young man follows him long enough to get his license plate number. A witness, who was driving behind them and saw the whole incident, corroborates the young man's story. They describe the suspect as a man in his 20s wearing a black T-shirt with the word "Security" across the chest in yellow letters. A female passenger was in the car with him. The plate number is given to police for follow-up...

At 4:28 p.m. on a Sunday, a woman gets into her boyfriend's car on a North Ballard residential street. She backs into the car behind her, then careens across the street and hits a second vehicle. Then she re-parks her car in the original spot and gets out. A witness sees this and asks her to provide insurance information. The information she gives is incomplete, and the witness goes to a telephone to call 911. When the witness returns, the woman and the car are gone. It turns out that the woman departed on foot, believing she was free to go after providing what information she had. Shortly thereafter, her boyfriend saw the damage to his car, became angry with his girlfriend and drove the car to his house, a short distance away, without investigating or talking to the witness. Police arrive and ascertain the location of the boyfriend's house from a second witness, who happens to be the boyfriend's brother, and in his driveway they locate the suspect vehicle, noting the damage to the rear and side of the car. The boyfriend confirms the car is his, but he has no insurance. The woman is located in another house not far away, and both she and her boyfriend are brought to the North Precinct. The woman's eyes are dilated. She says she was just trying to re-position the car after washing it, but her wet foot slipped on the pedal and she accidentally accelerated backwards, hitting the two cars. She also reported that she is taking the following drugs: Paxil, Clonazepam, Protonix, Diphenhydram, Gemfibrozil, Prebnisone and Ranitidine. The vehicle is photographed and the two suspects are released...
