HALLOWEEN CARNIVALS will take place today at the Ballard Community Center (684-4093), the Queen Anne Community Center (386-4240), Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center (684-7534), Meadowbrook Pool (684-7522), Laurelhurst Community Center, (684-7529).

HAUNTED HOUSE AT GREEN LAKE Community Center, 7201 E Green Lake Dr. N, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. There will also be a Free Swim from 7 - 8 p.m. Info: 684-0780.

OLD-FASHIONED HALLOWEEN FUN at Magnolia Community Center, with carnival games, crafts, prizes, a costume parade and more. Kids under 5 should bring an older person with them. Info: 386-4235.

HOOT 'N' HOWL at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, 6 - 9 p.m. both nights. Enjoy a 20-minute night tram tour, walk dark pathways to catch glimpses of wolves and owls, or drink hot chocolate and listen to ghost stories by the fire. Cost: $6/person. Info: (360) 832-7182.

FREAKY FOREST HALLOWEEN HIKE in Discovery Park, 7 - 9 p.m. Hike through the forest with a naturalist, share stories and witches' brew around the campfire. For adults and families with children over 6 years old. Pre-register (required) by calling 386-4236.

LITTLE GOBLINS HALLOWEEN PARTY AND SUPERSLIDE at the Meadowbrook Community Center. For children 5 and under--an inflatable Superslide bouncer and carnival games with prizes! Free; info: 684-7522.

UNIVERSITY DISTRICT FARMERS MARKET Halloween Celebration with folk-rock band Bau-Phluff and pumpkin decorating free for all kids. Begins at 10 a.m.

HALLOWEEN REBEL'S NIGHT OUT with Radical Women. Make magic not war with a masquerade party, dancing, Fall Harvest dinner and a no-host bar. Political satire performance and a costume contest. TRICK OR TREAT ON THE WATERFRONT, a safe, daylight trick-or-treat experience. Bring the little ghosts and goblins to the Seattle Aquarium and waterfront businesses between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Aquarium will transform into Neptune's castle, with entertainment, refreshments and more (admission cost). SPOOKY PET PARADE AND FAMILY SUPERSLIDE at Meadowbrook Community Center. Dress your pets up in their favorite costume for this parade with prizes. Afterwards, all family members can play on the giant inflatable Superslide. Info: 684-7522.

CHILDREN'S HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY at Licton Springs Park, 4:30 - 6 p.m., featuring trick or treats and hot cider. Free; minimal donations accepted at the cider stand.

MAGNOLIA VILLAGE HALLOWEEN, 4 - 6 p.m., featuring a Haunted House in Magnolia Garden Center.

ULTIMATE ALTERNATIVE, the eighth annual supervised, safe alternative to trick-or-treating, 6 - 8 p.m. at Seattle Union Gospel Mission, 3800 S Othello St. Geared for children age 16 and under with games, prizes, musical performances, candy and free hot dogs, chips and soda. Info: 723-0767.

2 Friday


DAY OF THE DEAD PROCESSION, starting 6:30 p.m. at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 75th & Greenwood, proceeding south to the Phinney Neighborhood Center. Followed by at art show opening at the Center, featuring altars for Day of the Dead made by local artists, 7 p.m. Refreshments, performances by Aztec dancers and more. Free, info: 783-2244.
