Wallingford and Greenwood Post Offices May See Staff Cuts

Nov 21, 2001 -- Just in time for the holidays, Seattle Postal Service management plans to cut a total of four clerks in post offices serving the 98103 ZIP code, according to the Postal Workers' Union local.

Anyone who has visited the Wallingford Post Office knows that there is almost always a line at the service window. Postal Workers' Union local Chief Steward David Yao reports that two full-time positions will be cut and two others will be "reassigned away." The cuts will be mitigated by moving another clerk from the Greenwood Post Office to work several hours a day at Wallingford.

For more information, contact the American Postal Workers' Union local at 241-6038, the Wallingford Post Office at 275-8777 or the Greenwood Post Office at 784-1221.

They seem to be letting go the wrong people. My mailperson on my block is the worst. She refuses to deliver my mail when I have my screen door shut and door open because of my 13lb dog that barks. She said I have to have my door shut between 12:00 to 4:00 in the heat of the day. It seems to be very unreasonable to me and I have not received my mail in 5 working days. All I can do at this point is complain so that is what I am doing. Thanks for reading.
