Soundview Park Project Lifts Off

Nov 21, 2001 -- Soundview Park is almost a secret. It hides just northwest of the Holman Road--15th Avenue curve at 1590 NW 90th St. Its ball fields are visible from 15th Avenue, but the diamond in the rough, according to Dianna Simmonds, is the playground on the far west side.

Simmonds is heading up a neighborhood effort to improve the playground. The Soundview Park Project has obtained a planning grant from the Department of Neighborhoods and wants input and participation from the community that will use the park. A planning meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, November 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Whitman Middle School to evaluate conceptual plans presented by a landscape architect. For more information about the project, call Simmonds at 782-0458 or visit the project web site: www.soundviewpark.org.
