Seattle Writers in Performance
Writers in Performance 2002, sponsored by the Seattle Writers' Association, will be Saturday, May 18, from 7-9:30 PM in the Social Hall at 6556 35th Ave. NE. Submissions of short stories, essays, novel excerpts, and poetry are being accepted (postmark deadline February 28). For information, see the SWA website, members.tripod.com/seattlewriters_assoc/.
Bellingham Review Literary Competition
The Bellingham Review, a non-profit literary arts magazine, is accepting entries of poems, short stories and creative nonfiction for its 2002 literary competition. Entries must be postmarked by March 15.
Winning entries will be published in the magazine and all finalists may be considered for publication. Judges include Mark Doty, Laura Kalpakian and John D'Agata.
First prize winners will receive $1,000, second place winners $300 and third place winners $200. Fees are $15 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry.
