Amnesty International Comes to Seattle
Apr 11, 2002 --
Globalization will be the subject of Amnesty International's annual convention, held in Seattle from April 19 - 21. The public is invited to attend for panel discussions on abolishing the death penalty, Amnesty International's response to September 11, identity-based discrimination and the World Conference Against Racism, and more.
"Amnesty International stands in a unique position to reframe the meaning of globalization and secure human rights within the context of global progress," said William F. Schultz, executive director of Amnesty International U.S.A. "At the site of the now-symbolic World Trade Organization protests, we look forward to furthering the meaningful dialogue that Amnesty International and hundreds of local activists have undertaken, and begin to chart the course for successful action."
The convention will take place at the Renaissance Madison Hotel at 515 Madison Street. For more information or a complete schedule of events, call (212) 633-4247 or visit www.amnestyusa.org/events/agm2002/schedule2002.html.
