Ballard High School Happenings

Apr 25, 2002 -- Ballard High School, Seattle's oldest public high school, is turning 100 with this year's graduating class. Alumni, friends and neighbors and everyone else is invited to an open house May 18 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. An evening concert the same day will feature the Brothers Four. Tickets for the concert are available through www.ticketweb.com.

New Century High School

New next year at the Ballard High School campus will be a separate evening school, New Century High School. Students will attend classes from 3 - 8 p.m. For the first school year, 200- 03, the school will sign up only ninth and tenth grade students, who will enjoy small class sizes and project-based, community-centered education. BHS principal David Engle says one curriculum theme will be transportation, which will involve students in studying social work, statistics, land use, and many other subjects.

Students and parents can get more information about New Century High School by calling (206) 252-1112 or e-mailing ggdublin@seattleschools.org.
