Stepping Up on Wallingford Avenue
May 09, 2002 -- Wallingford Steps will soon become a reality, linking Wallingford Avenue to Boat Street, the Burke-Gilman Trail and Lake Union. The Steps will provide a southern view of the lake and Gasworks Park at the foot of Wallingford, along with concrete staircases, ramps, seating, plantings and lighting.On April 25 the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation named A-1 Construction Co. as the winner of the construction contract for the project. Funding is provided by the 2000 Pro Parks levy and Regata, LLC, developer of a new building near the site. Construction will start this month, and should be completed in August.
