Pioneering Spirit in Lake City

Jul 04, 2002 -- The Lake City Summer Festival will return for the weekend of August 2 and 3 this year, bringing tons of fun and community to the north end of Lake City Way.

There is still time to register for the Grand Parade, which the event Web site calls "one of the largest and oldest parades in Seattle." Marching bands, vintage cars, floats and cultural groups will make it a spectacle not to be missed. The parade will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

No registration is needed for the Kiddies Parade, which is open to all kids up to age 15. Children will be able to make hats and wands and get their faces painted during the afternoon, then show off their wearable art in the parade.

For information about the Summer Festival or parade registration, call (206) 363-3287.
