Bridging the Digital Divide
Aug 01, 2002 --
Regular Seattle Press readers know about the Neighborhood Matching Fund that helps all manner of neighborhood projects to fruition around Seattle. But have you heard of the Technology Matching Fund?
It operates on the same principle, matching dollar for dollar money raised by organizations working to improve computer literacy. Grant awards were announced on July 24. South Park Community Center, Helping Link, Ethiopian Community Mutual Association, Elderhealth, the Wallingford Senior Center, UW Women's Center, North Seattle Family Center and Summit Day School will all have new equipment for use by kids, the elderly, low-income families, immigrant communities and others.
For more information about Technology Matching Grants, call the Mayor's office at 684-4000.
