Bank Opts Out of Ballard Library Project
Aug 01, 2002 --
BALLARD-- U. S. Bank has opted out of sharing space in Ballard's new branch library building. The new branch will be built on the site of the U. S. Bank branch at the corner of 22nd Avenue NW and NW 57th Street.
Draft plans of the building called for a building divided into three portions, housing the bank branch, the Neighborhood Service Center and the library. A public process of design review was begun earlier this year, and schematic drawings have been presented to the community. According to Alexandra Harris, capital program manager for Seattle Public Library, the design contractor has also been working on a design that does not include the bank. Harris said a community meeting will be scheduled for the near future to present the revised design.
